Bridge Replacement

March 20, 2025

Communication from MKCC:

We'll be closing one of the public bridges to pedestrians on Monday and Tuesday 24-25th March to carry out a full replacement. The bridge, which is almost 40 years old, was damaged by floods and an inspection revealed rot on the main support beams.

The attached map shows the location of the bridge which is on Olney Bridleway 2, close to the end of Church Street in Olney.

The replacement bridge will be made from strong, recycled plastic but will still have the appearance of wood. It has a greater resistance to flooding and should last around 75years.

The works are being planned and overseen by the Public Rights of Way team.
